Storyline
What a nice weather we’re having— Eh? Commander, you’re asking why I’ve become so… abstract? Let’s shelf that topic for now, I’m in the thick of picnic prep here. The tablecloth is spread out, the treats are… Oh? It seems a few little rascals wish to join. A cheeky squirrel made off with a nut cookie and then, with a nimble leap, paused to look back at me. “Looking for a bit of fun, are we?”
When I spread out a stash of nuts, the squirrels came rushing, gorging themselves with glee. One, cheeks packed to the brim, lost balance and “boing!”— rolling down the lawn it went. I followed its tiny, bouncing figure through the grass, sailing away after hopping onto something floating on the creek. Then, a warm voice reached my ears, “Enterprise, are you taking a day off as well? Let’s go for a walk together.” It was Yorktown. Chatting as we walked, we heard laughter and whispering sounds coming from the top and inside of a big tree.
The little squirrel kept looking back every few steps, as if worried I’d get lost in this lush forest. After hops and sprints, it stopped under a dense tree, slipping through a tiny door. The sunlight filtering through the leaves cast hints at a cozy den here. Look, Saratoga is sketching under the tree, but a cheeky bird has taken flight with her paintbrush.
I knock on the door. The tiny door slowly opened, with warm light spilling from inside. Fluffy bunnies gazed at us with curious eyes, and I could smell the delicious scent of vegetable soup floating through the room. Hm? It seems we’re not today’s first guests. There sat Laffey, drowsy on the couch, “Zzzz… can’t find… my slippers,” she mumbled, rubbing her eyes.
I climbed to the top of the big tree, finding myself on a perfect canopy platform that offered an incredible view of the whole port, bursting with vibrant flowers. As I was looking for where the noise came from, I spotted Hammann hanging from a branch. “This was definitely not my plan!” She grumbled, struggling to keep herself steady. The branch snapped, sending Hammann and me tumbling down the tree. Amidst the dizzying fall, we caught sight of a lavender field nearby.
